During the course of this year’s 58th Berlin Film Festival, the Kordes & Kordes-produced feature FOUR MINUTES garnered another three international awards this Saturday and has now passed the total mark of 40 film prizes.

Director Chris Kraus accepted awards for "Best Feature Film" and "Best Actress" (Monica Bleibtreu) from the "6th International Images Film Festival" Harare in Zimbabwe, presented to him by Dr Jürgen Maier, Commercial Director of the Goethe Institute. "I’m completely astounded! Until today no one had told us that we won two awards in Africa.", Kraus told the 300 invitees attending the Goethe Institute Reception traditionally held at the Berlin Film Festival.

In addition, Producer Meike Kordes was awarded the "Coup de Foudre du Public" by weekly French industry paper "Ecran Total" and cultural channel "Canal Plus", honouring the great success FOUR MINUTES has been with French cinema audiences. The prize was determined via an audience survey by the paper, notes Serge Siritzky, CEO of "Ecran Total": "According to our weekly poll, the French public has been crazed by your film." The "Coup de Foudre du Public" is only awarded ten times a year. Within three weeks of its initial release in France, FOUR MINUTES had already attracted far over 100.000 spectators.

The prison-set love duel between two pianists played by Hannah Herzsprung and Monica Bleibtreu opens in the UK on March 3rd 2008 and in the US on April 18th 2008.

The actress who made a name for herself following her role in the drama FOUR MINUTES (Director: Chris Kraus) and who has been very busy ever since is Germany’s suggested candidate for the European Film Promotion’s (EFP) "Shooting Stars".

As a member of EFP, German Films put forward Herzsprung on the basis of her outstanding performances in FOUR MINUTES (Bavarian Film Prize for Best New Actress, Rising Star Award at Hamptons International Film Festival 2007, Jury’s Special Prize at the 4th Anonimul International Film Festival 2007, New Faces Award for the magazine BUNTE and nomination for the German Film Prize’s Best Female Lead, among others) as well as in the family drama LIFE ACTUALLY (DAS WAHRE LEBEN) (German Film Prize for Best Supporting Actress among others).

Unlike in previous years, a panel of 5 international judges under the chairmanship of the 3-time Oscar candidate and winner of this year’s European Film Prize, Michael Ballhaus, will select the 9 finalists for Shooting Stars from the suggestions put forward by the individual states. The decision will be made in mid-December.

On Sunday night at the "4th Undine Award Gala" at the International Congress Casino Baden (Austria), tomorrow’s film stars of the German-speaking world were chosen.

In the category "Best Leading Actress," the Undine Award went to Hannah Herzsprung for her moving portrayal of a jail pianist in the Kordes&Kordes production "Four Minutes” (director: Chris Kraus).
It was the 32nd international award for the prison drama.

“Best Male Lead” went to Matthias Schweighöfer ("Life Actually"/“Das Wahre Leben”). Karoline Herfurth ("Perfume"/“Das Parfüm”) and the Austrian Matthias Franz Stein ("The Beheaded Rooster"/"Der geköpfte Hahn") were awarded “Best Supporting Actor”.
Jessica Schwarz, Tanja Wenzel, Anna Maria Mühe, Robert Stadlober, Svea Bein and Theo Gheorgiu were distinguished in the other categories among a total of 40 nominees.

The Undine Award is the most significant the prize for newcomers to acting in the German-speaking world. The ORF reported today (29.10.2007) in a detailed "Undine Award Special" about the awards ceremony (ORF 1, 19.50).
Double Success for FOUR MINUTES

At the 15th Hamptons International Film Festival in New York, which finished at the weekend, "FOUR MINUTES" by Chris Kraus was awarded the Public’s Prize for Best Feature Film.
In addition, the leading actress of “Four Minutes”, Hannah Herzsprung, took the coveted "Rising Star" award for her acting performance. Hannah Herzsprung was given a standing ovation lasting several minutes.

Since its start in Germany, the Kordes & Kordes production "FOUR MINUTES" has reached a cinema audience of 404 000 and has opened successfully in Italy, Spain, Austria, Holland, Australia, New Zealand, Greece and Switzerland. "FOUR MINUTES" will be brought to cinemas in the USA in March 2008 by Senator Entertainment.
